Abstract
Cost-benefit analyses for the new greenfield airport 'Notre Dame des Landes' near Nantes (France) were tools to justify major sunk costs expenditures. A structured approach to forecasting traffic over the long run and to infer appropriate revenues versus costs are essential parts of it. A scenario-based approach was chosen which takes account of changes in different value drivers of the project.
